The Latest Visit to Peace Corps Medical Office

Today is August 25th, 2008 - today I visited the medical office.

It has been a hot second since I made the hike up the flight of stairs to talk about my body with the nurse team - needless to say, I had a rainbow of emotions. When I arrived at the front desk, it was as if no time had passed at all. I am like Woody Harrelson from 'Cheers' in this office - everybody knows my name.

"So what's it going to be today Jimbo? Stitches? Bathroom troubles? Loosing an insane amount of weight in 4 days?" - Nursing crew

"No... not the regular today - no stitches, no Pepto-Bismol, no weight gainer - an ingrown toenail." - I reluctantly stated

Probably one of the most embarrassing injuries to have. And here is why:

"So Jim, you don't know how to cut your toenails?" - Nurse operating on my toe
"Umm... yeah, I do!" - came back with that comment way too fast to not sound overcompensating (I thought I did, but obviously I don't if I'm in the office to have her teach me how to cut them)

This was followed by 15 minutes of her cleaning up the mess that I had made out of my foot and making me feel like a three year old child that needs his parents to do everything for him. Limping down the stairs to an audience of hardcore Peace Corps Volunteers did not make me feel any better about my predicament either.

ego bruised, toe sore,

Jimbo
